WHAT IS POSITIVE THINKING?

Positive thinking happens to be one of the most effective way to escape reality, especially if that reality stinks.
You use positive thinking in this way if you do not understand it at all. That statement includes a lot of people even those who claim to be "gurus".

My understanding of positive is that it is a decision to live life looking up and not down, regardless of what comes or happens. It is seeing the good in the bad or even worse. It is the cultivation of gratitude when everybody seems to be complaining. It is the looking forward to good times when one is surrounded by despair.


COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT Positive Thinking

The sheer number of misunderstandings about positive thinking is incredible. This is partly due to the hype around it. In most cases, this hype is done in order to make a quick buck from people who want a magic pill to their painful existence.

If you think that positive thinking is a magic pill and will give you relief without any effort on your part, then you are in for a shock. That will not happen. It is just not possible.

Another common misconception is that with positive thinking you just have to think positively and then things will magically fall into place. What you want will come rolling towards you. And you know these "gurus" are lining their pockets when they start throwing the law of attraction into the mix.

Guess what, all that is not true.

By the way, the law of attraction is a powerful concept which will be discussed at some length in the upcoming post.

A lot of people have been told that their surroundings should not have an effect on them if they are to be positive thinkers.
Positive thinkers are supposed to be immuned to their surroundings. Really? Where are these people? From which planet are they from?

Again, I am really sorry to have to tell you that this is just another lie.

There are many more lies about positive thinking out there but I am simply getting a bit bored going through them because they are that many. But I think the few lies we have so far will do, don't you think?

WHAT POSITIVE THINKING MEANS: THE TRUTH

1. Positive thinking can be a very powerful way of life. It can help you to solve a lot of heartache and difficulty in your life IF used properly.
By properly, I mean using it as a tool to help you get around your problems to find solutions. It follows then that for positive thinking to work, you will have to work. Sitting around daydreaming all day long will not do. 

2.Thinking positively will not exempt you from facing challenges faced by other people who may or may not be "positive thinkers. You are going to face difficulties in your life.  You will meet all manner of problems and yes, you are going to be frustrated.

But facing challenges does not mean ,you are going to be stopped by them. It means although surrounded by difficulty, you are still looking ahead and making progress.

3. Positive thinking means good fortune. You see,people who really think positively expect good things to happen to them. And of course, good things start making an appearance.
But for this to happen, you have to have real faith. You have to believe wholeheartedly. Otherwise, you are just wasting your time.

CONCLUSION

Positive thinking and related buzzwords are widely misunderstood concepts but are indeed life changing. Absolutely powerful stuff!
But you have to be prepared to fold your sleeves and get to work because work it is. And once this is done, magic starts happening.
